LEONARD STREET

THE KNITTING FACTORY opened in 1994 at 74 Leonard Street. The club became a haven for indie rock and bands like Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth played there. On Wednesday, the club held its final show, featuring the bands Deerhoof, Dirty Projectors and Deer Tick. The club is expected to reopen in a smaller and less expensive space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
